Night at the Switchback

A few weeks ago I purchased a Nikon D300s to compliment my D90 and to replace my D300 because I wanted to do more video and multimedia project's. I do have access to a Sony ex 1 but I really like the Idea having both a still camera and a video camera in one the quality and control is not quite the same but it does a fairly good job if you know what you are doing.

So after my purchase I have had several idea's of multimedia projects that I wanted to do and one of them was to make a piece on my friend Kevin Pflugh who races Quad's. I have always been a fan of action sport's and I wanted to start with something I was comfortable with and last week Kevin called me and was like let's do this so last Wednesday night we took a trip out to the track went for it.

We had about three hour's before dark and we used every minute of it I operated both camera's my D90 with my 12-24 and my d300s with the 80-200. I kept the lenses on each body to prevent dust from getting in and switched set up depending on if I wanted a close up in the video or I wanted to get close in the photo and the formula worked great switching camera's in between shot's was easy I would set up the video shot on the tripod focus, set exposure, and hit record then I would run and find another good angle to shoot photo's from and judging from the result's I think it was a good game plan you can have a look for yourself here http://www.vimeo.com/13401994.
